This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through behindyourbiz.com (the “Site”) and in connection with our business administration, compliance, and brand protection services, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using the Site or booking a consultation with us, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide to Us.
• Contact and booking information — such as your name, email address, phone number, and business name — when you request a consultation through our booking form or scheduling page.
• Information you share during a consultation or while we perform services for you, such as details about your business, entity structure, brand, contracts, compliance needs, or the documents you provide as part of a Business Blueprint assessment or ongoing administrative support.
• Any information you submit through email, forms, or other direct communication with us.
Information Collected Automatically.
• When you visit the Site, our hosting provider (Squarespace) and standard web technologies automatically collect certain information, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and referring URLs, through cookies and similar tracking technologies. See Section 4 (“Cookies and Tracking Technologies”) below.
Information from Third-Party Services.
• When you book a consultation, you are directed to a Google Forms intake form and/or our appointment scheduling page. Information you submit there is collected by us (and, in the case of Google Forms, also subject to Google’s own privacy practices) so that we can respond to your request.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
• Respond to consultation requests, schedule appointments, and communicate with you about our services;
• Provide, administer, and manage the business administration, compliance, brand protection, and document-related services you request;
• Prepare proposals, engagement terms, invoices, and related administrative records;
• Maintain, secure, and improve the Site and our internal operations;
• Comply with applicable laws, respond to legal requests, and protect our rights and the rights of our clients; and
• Send administrative communications related to services you’ve requested. We do not send marketing communications unless you’ve separately opted in, and you may unsubscribe at any time.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:
• Service providers. With third-party platforms we use to operate our business, such as Squarespace (website hosting) and Google (booking forms), solely to the extent needed to provide the Site and process your requests.
• Independent licensed attorneys. Behind Your Biz is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or representation. If your matter requires legal services (for example, trademark filings), we may, with your consent, refer or share relevant information with an independent licensed attorney who will engage with you directly and separately.
• Legal and safety reasons. If required to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Behind Your Biz, our clients, or others.
• Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of business assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Site is hosted on Squarespace, which uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember preferences, and gather analytics about how visitors use the Site. These may include session cookies (which expire once you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which remain until deleted or expired).
You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them; however, some parts of the Site may not function properly if you do so. We do not currently display a cookie-consent banner on the Site — [if you serve visitors in the EU/UK or California and rely on non-essential analytics or advertising cookies, you should add a cookie consent/opt-out mechanism and update this section accordingly].
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services, maintain business and compliance records, satisfy legal, accounting, or reporting obligations, and resolve disputes, after which we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect the information we collect, including information you share with us as part of business administration and document-related services. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, which can include the right to: know what personal information we have collected about you; request access to or a copy of that information; request correction or deletion of your information; and opt out of certain uses or disclosures. For example, California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended, and residents of other states or countries (such as the EU/UK) may have similar rights under applicable law.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 11 below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.
8. Third-Party Links and Services
The Site and our booking process may link to or rely on third-party services we do not control, including Google Forms and our appointment scheduling provider. Those third parties have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites or services.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Site and our services are directed to businesses, creators, and adults, and are not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or operational reasons. The “Effective Date” at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
